About the Author
Koike Ryunosuke
Born in Yamaguchi prefecture in 1978, Koike is a temple master at Tsukuyomu-ji (Setagaya, Tokyo) and Shogen-ji (Yamaguchi prefecture). After graduating from the Faculty of Liberal Arts, University of Tokyo, Koike launched his website “Iede Kukan” (Space for Runaways). In 2003, he opened iede café, a hybrid of a temple and a café, which he operated until 2007. Today, aside from his own Buddhist training, Koike instructs lay people how to practice Zen sitting meditation at Tsukuyomu-ji and other venues including Shinjuku Asahi Culture Center. His publications include the bestselling Kangaenai Renshu (“Practice Not To Think” Tokyo: Shogakkan); Choyaku Buddha no Kotoba (“Super-Liberal Interpretation of Buddha’s Words,” Tokyo: Discover Twenty-One); and Chinmoku Nyumon (Introduction to Silence) and Mo, Okoranai (I Will Get Angry No More) both from Gento-sha.
Suzuki Tomoko
Born in 1977, Suzuki is a manga artist whose publications include: the “Tsuyoki na Shoshin-chan” (Self-Confident Wimp) series, Yamanobori Hajimemashita―Mezase!
